Celebrating New Babies!

Writers often find themselves returning to certain themes or ideas, and as I scan over the list of my picture books, I realize that new babies—both human and animal—are a recurrent concept for me. My books Love Song for a Baby, Grandmother’s Song, Some Babies Are Wild, and Baby Bear Discovers the World all celebrate the very youngest among us. Is there a new baby to celebrate in your household or connected to one of the children in your classroom? If not, perhaps you’ll want to challenge older readers to a compare-and-contrast activity using a grouping of these quick-to-read titles.
