Illustrate the Differences: A Compare/Contrast Activity

Halloween_compare.jpg

John Shelley’s evocative illustrations are featured in two of my picture books: Halloween Forest and Crinkle, Crackle, CRACK: It’s Spring!. Although both titles are set in the forest, John does an amazing job of creating two totally different moods for the two titles: a creepy autumn night versus a bursting-into-life spring setting. Why not use the two titles for an entertaining and intriguing compare/contrast activity with your students?
