National Poetry Month: Take Two in 2020

National Poetry Month booksLast week I posted some resources for celebrating National Poetry Month with young readers, and this week I’m following up with another great list—this time, focusing on “12 Poetry (poetic) Books for Babies and Toddlers.” It might seem like an odd time of year to talk about the title of mine that’s included on the list, since it’s my picture book Winter Dance. But of course, in Minnesota we had major mid-April snowstorms the past two years! Rather than wishing for the same again this year, perhaps it’s instead a great opportunity to kick off a discussion with your very young listeners about how animal behavior changes in the spring and summer (since Winter Dance focuses on animal behavior in the colder months).
